About us

BRIEF INTRODUCTION OF CNCS.
The Communication Network for Catholic Sisters is a Zambia-based organization that supports and connects Catholic sisters by amplifying their stories and impact in various social development areas. Established in 2022, CNCS was created to foster collaboration and coordination among Catholic Sisters by facilitating the exchange of strategies, experiences, and information..

CNCS recognizes that Catholic Sisters have a crucial role in the mission of the Church since they carry out various pastoral works; manage programs in a variety of settings, not in exclusion of social work, health, welfare, education, agriculture and human trafficking etc. The Network thus CNCS equips Catholic Sisters with the skills necessary to generate, compose, gather, and distribute narratives using various suitable media platforms. It seeks to ensure that the remarkable contributions of Catholic Sisters in alleviating human suffering for vulnerable populations is widely acknowledged and highlighted on major media platforms. These initiatives amplifies the voices of Sisters, enabling them to share their experiences, highlight their contributions to integral human development and advocate on key issues such as economic justice, transformational leadership, and the elimination of violence and harmful practices.

The Network is part of the Zambia Association of Sisterhoods (ZAS) and works with the Conrad N. Hilton Foundation to empower sisters in content creation and advocacy. CNCS has a membership over 60 members drawn from 47 Religious congregations and about 2000 Catholic Sisters. We enhance the visibility and credibility of Catholic Sisters, making them leaders in social transformation at diocesan and national levels. The Network operates as a meso-level Civil Society Organisation (CSO) and plays a critical role in linking local human rights priorities with broader national and international advocacy efforts.

CNCS’ Secretariat is based in Lusaka, Zambia. CNCS obtained its official NGO status in June 2023 and is governed by a board of 9 members. CNCS has over 60 members drawn from 47 Religious congregations and about 2000 Catholic Sisters in Zambia.

Organisational Philosophy.

CNCS believes that every human being is created in the image of God and deserves a dignified and fulfilling life. We understand that realizing the integrity of humanity must be anchored on spiritual nurturing, physical development, social integration and intellectual development. We therefore support holistic development of the person and empower communities by awakening the inherent capacities to transform themselves as a means to fostering the fullness of life and the integrity of creation. We achieve this by enhancing the visibility and credibility of the work of Catholic Sisters, making them leaders in social transformation at Diocesan and national levels.
